About Ashley Williams LICSW

Therapist in New London, NH

Counseling in New London NH and online NH and MA

Finding a therapist can be tough! I want to help you learn about me and see if we will be a good fit. I’ll tell you a bit about why I do this work and the people who are the best fit to work with me.

I am passionate about this work because IT WORKS and changes lives, for people who commit to it. I've lived it and seen it in my practice. I know what it takes to make real change in your life and relationships. I work best with clients who are tired of being unhappy and they are ready to make some changes. No therapist can change you; only you can do that. I am here to facilitate and support you in that change.

I'm not a sit back and nod kind of therapist. I jump in with you, and we work with what you bring. You'll learn, I'm not afraid to talk about whatever you need to share. I am patient, validating, and empathetic, but I will also challenge you at times and call you on your stuff. I work hard on this being a safe, real relationship.

I have chosen to specialize in both couples and attachment based therapy because I believe in the power and importance of healthy and connected relationships. I have a special interest in helping young couples who need help balancing time between their relationships, children, work and busy schedules while maintaining a secure connection. Raising two young children of my own with my husband of 16 years, I understand firsthand the challenge this stage of life brings. In addition to couples, I also specialize in working with adults who struggle with anxiety, stress, perfectionism, life transitions and dating issues.

A bit more about me...

I grew up in a small rural town in Vermont all 18 years before moving to Burlington, Vermont for college. After graduating in 2004, I moved to London, UK where I worked as a social worker in the areas of child protection, immigration and with adults with disabilities. In 2007 I returned to the US and began my journey as a clinical social worker and therapist at Simmons College(now University). I have since had varied professional and life experience to draw upon as an outpatient and partial hospitalization therapist, healthcare consultant and adjunct professor.

I enjoy spending time with my husband, 2 young children, cats, and dogs as well as reading, working on my bullet journal and cooking.
